What is an Appraisal?
An appraisal is a conversation that takes place between a leader or a manager and their team member where the team members performance is reviewed and goals, targets and objectives set for the next appraisal period. The meeting takes place anywhere from one a month to once a year, depending on the companies individual process.
Why do people see appraisals as being a negative thing?
It's perception. For many, appraisals are just something we 'have to do'. They can easily become a tick box exercise, rather than a process that drives performance and motivation. If done well, appraisals should be seen to be a very positive process.
Can you use our own appraisal process and documents?
If you attend our scheduled online open course, you are more than welcome to bring along your documentation and process and use it to apply the skills and ideas from the course to this. If we deliver this in-house for you then we will ask for this as part of our initial conversations to use in the course.
